So now that you’ve read a lot of stories, what next? Take the time to think. Remember about your childhood. Why is this important?

Our main audience are kids. If we aren’t empathizing with them and connecting to our own childhood, it is easy to write from an adult’s perspective.

Small things matter. Spinning in circles, changing a channel, having someone pick your favorite color cup. Write lists of things you remember as a kid. What was important to you then? See if it connects with you now. And maybe in those memories, those feelings, you can find a story.
