Creativity and Fun

Maybe as the work gets harder with deadlines or if it is because it’s the time of year, part of me has been thinking about rekindling joy. Joy in writing. Joy in Art. Joy in creating.

Here are some resources that may loosen up kid-like side of your creativity:

➡️ Super Easy Storytelling for Kids: even though this is aimed as children, the prompts are really fun or could be tweaked as needed.
➡️ 7 Steps to Stop Overthinking Your Writing: K.M. Weiland had some fantastic points in this episode, but the discussion of overthinking relating to perfection really hit home.
➡️ Hedge Humor – Bowl Game: comic artist Adrienne Hedger has a series of illustrations created with random prompts. Draw along or start your own.
➡️ 10 Hacks to being Creative (Psych to Go): I have a soft spot for pithy videos with animation that draws you in. In this case, getting creative about creativity!
➡️ Poem Crazy by Susan G. Woolridge: a poet & teacher walks us through poetic wordplay. A blend of autobiography and writing prompts.
➡️ My Year of Art by Susan Schwake and Art by Charlotte Farmer: an artist’s journal for kids 8 and up! Meant for kids, but I think this will be a fabulous way to draw outside the box for a full year.
