Let’s Dance by Valerie Bolling & art by Maine Diaz (2020)

Summary: This lyrical picture book invites young readers to boogie along with dances from all over the world.

What I Enjoyed

‪➡️‬ Kid Relatable: Fun to read aloud, to listen to, and dance along with.
‪➡️‬ Diverse: This slice of life story is full of positive vibes. I hope kids see themselves in it.
‪➡️‬ Surprise: There is an unexpected moment at the end, leaving the reader with a question that makes it especially fun to re-read.

Mentor Text Moments

‪➡️‬ For Authors: Every word and syllable counts. As a bonus, there is backmatter.
‪➡️‬ For Authors: A great example of an atypical story structure for a concept book.
‪➡️‬ For Illustrators: This is a study on gesture as well as illustrating subtext (check out the last spread and the end papers).
